Hair Analysis - any experiences?

Has anyone ever had their horses hair analysed?

What for/Why did you have it tested? Did the results answer the questions you wanted?

My friend had her Arab x appy's hair tested for the grey gene (it was 50/50 as the sire was heterozygous for grey). She was pleased when the test came back negative for grey.

Sorry, should've been clearer, I mean in terms of testing for minerals etc, not DNA/genes
