I wonder if anyone can help? Are there any labs that offer hair analysis as a means of drug testing horses. I have found articles/research relating to the subject but am having trouble finding a lab to perform the test.
I am trying to find out if a recent horse purchase has a history of long acting medication being given.

It depends on the time frame. If it is the same as humans it will only detect drugs from 6 weeks from point of test.

May be worth contacting the BHA - I'm sure this was looked into with racehorses having drugs whilst 'on holiday'. I'm not sure if it ever worked however, and if so what could be tested for!

Thanks BN, there has been some research, and findings presented at KER and I think BHA. I think it was done through the RVC and the conclusions were encouraging, especially for the medications I am looking for.
