Hair growth,, Please help me??????

Okay i have a fantastic show hack, who decided in the winter with her big big big rug on to run around mentally for some time in her field, all my horses are kept out in wointer, and so rugs come off every other day, but thats it.

Anyways so she started to get a sort of rain scold effect where shed got hot under her rug, so i braught her in and applied lots of protocon ointment.

Well this was about 2 months ago, she is now in work and a happy bunny, but she has these bald patches on her back, which i obviously cant show her with,,,

So does anyone have any idea as to how to help the hair grow back quickly????

I think it depends how bad the rain scald was and how quickly it was treated. Rain scald, as I'm sure you know, is a bacterial infection of the skin where it is compromised by being damp all the time. The damp can be caused by prolonged rain on an unrugged horse, or not washing sweaty horses off properly before rugging, or heavy rugging that makes the horse sweat underneath the rug. If it was a heavy infection, perhaps unnoticed for a while, the damage to the skin can go very deep and affect the hair follicles. It may be that at the next coat change, the hair will grown back - possibly white, or it could be that the follicles are dead and the hair will never grow back. Fingers crossed x
