Hairline Canon Bone Fractures

Not personally but my ex racer did this whilst in training; he's absolutely fine now with no ill effects and carried on racing after it had healed!!

Thank you.

My yearling kicked the gate post playing in the field. Xrayed today, possible hairline fracture, but vets taking no chances and treating it as a fracture.

I was so relieved I had taught the youngster manners, she stood without sedation for 10 xrays and a Robert Jones bandage with hardly a fidget.

I was quite proud of her when the vet mentioned the filly was the best behaved yearling she had ever dealt with. Cheered me up a bit ! then I had a cry when everyone had gone. The filly keeps looking at her huge bandage and then looking at me in a very perplexed way.

Time will heal it no doubt.

Age is going to be on her side the young ones always heal more quickly and she looked a picture of health in the photo you posted recently.

Boredom will be the worst part for her but you have had plenty of experience with box resting lately so should have ideas to keep her amused, pick loads of grass and stuff a haynet much more interesting than hay.

Haven't I just !!! my yard sign is being changed to Crocks Corner.

I have 2 small pony 'babysitters' it took me half an hour this evening to decide who would babysit who overnight. The babysitters can swop over in the morning, they are going to be well chuffed with that routine, normally they do 12 hour shifts with the big horse and have 12 hours at grass each.

I will cut her some grass, and she has her pink salt block which she loves. She is a peaceful filly but this will certainly be tough for her.
