Just a thought as already getting mane rubbed due to neck covers on rugs.

Currently in Rambo/Amigo rugs with detachable necks - and getting mane rub.
If I used a half neck rug underneath and then my rugs on top - in worst of weather would this stop mane rubbing away to nothing do you think?????

Want to do some indoor shows over winter and would like to have a whole mane to plait!

thanks guys for any info

Keep the lining of the neck rug really clean - the grease build up tends to friction the mane causing it to rub.

I have a box of thick baby wipes in my tack box and rub the lining daily.

Also keep mane really clean and use a silicon spray on it to keep it from rubbing.

I was having the same problem and somebody suggested using mane and tail in their manes (sounds obvious, I know, but I only used it in tail!) makes it silky so less rubbed out. Has worked brilliantly.

I take a thermos of hot water to the stables - or if you have power take the kettle. For bathing I have a 40litre plastic water container that I fill with the hottest water I can so that it is still hot when I get to the stables.

For quick clean I have a packet of nice thick baby wipes. They do a pretty good job of cleaning the neck rug.
