I just recently got a new horse and his top line is lacking a bit causing my saddle to not fit as well as it should, it's too close to the withers without a half pad.

I am using the acavallo sheepskin pad (picture below), but I feel like it's taking up too much room around the withers.

Is there a half pad like Ogilvy, Kentucky, Winderen, or acavallo that anyone would recommend?

Is it worth having a saddle fitter check that the saddle is suitable for the horse, particularly if the horse is new to you? The fitter may also be able to adjust the width of the saddle or change the flocking if appropriate or give advice on using a half pad and shims.

Please do use a fitter if you possibly can. Ogilvy is absolutely not worth the money IMO, all marketing and cheap low performance materials. I would suggest a Mattes sheepskin shim pad, or perhaps an Invictus. The Winderen has decent materials but not convinced how well it really works. Not a great fan of any of the gel pads.
