Half pads and Poly pads?

I recently had my saddle checked for my pony, I was told that it was sitting slightly low at the back, but due to the weather changing and him having just been turned out to grass he said it would be a good idea to leave it for a few weeks and use a poly pad to make it sit comfortably for the time being, as my pony is a god doer and even though I will be monitoring his feed intake he is liable to put on a bit of weight, so he is going to come back in a couple of weeks to check the fit of the saddle and take it away for re-flocking if necessary.

The only problem I have is that poly pads seem to slip back on my pony because he has quite big shoulders and I have to get off and pull it forwards again which is quite annoying. So my question is, would I be better to use a half pad with a normal numnah as these have straps which go through the girth and wouldn't be able to slip, or would this not have the same affect as a poly pad?

Any advice much appreciate.

If you already own polypads why not sew some straps or velcro on them to fix it to your saddle? It sounds like this is only a temporary measure till he changes shape again?
