What's the PN/BE100 course like there?
My PC DC wants me to do the PC lvl 4 there on the 3rd of May, but it would be my first. I can do XC better than the other disciplines, but is it very techy/huge?

It's a nice course, the PC course will have intro alternatives at the more difficult fences. SJ can be very bright and up to height though.

Hm.... weirdly I'm going to contradict the person above....

I think the XC is quite stiff for a Pre-novice and that the showjumping is more forgiving!

(Look out for the shotgun cartridge into the wood and the fence after it!)

The shedule says there with be black flag alternatives, as Thistle suggested, but TBH I'll just go for it - otherwise what's the point?!

It's fairly big and bold but very inviting and rides well. The shotgun cartridges at fence 3 can cause a problem if your horse is a bit nappy, it's quite bright and the first fence away from the other horses.

Hambleden is one of my favourite courses.

There is a big ditch pallisade at the end of the course.

Last time we went to the PC (3 years ago, have done the BE for past 2 years) the SJ was huge (this was when there was only level 5) out of 160 competitors there were 16 clears. (Luckily for us B and another of our team both jumped clear)

Maybe they have softened the SJ since then.

I liked it, although wished it had had a few jumps (there were 15 numbers). Three (brightly coloured jump) and four (the biggest jump on the course) were probably the hardest on the course, but i thought it was lovely course overall

Well, it sounds promising - have filled out my form and will be posting it tomorrow. I'll have to try bigger at some point - what've I got to lose?

My pony's not very nappy, in fact, quite the opposite, and is fine with ditches etc. so, that should be okay!

it is spelt Hambleden, as I spelt it (or at least that is how BE/BDWP and the PC spell it)
