Well i'm off to try a horse on Sunday. I am very excited about him and owner thinks he if definetly 2* standard but could go 4*! He had double clears in the 3 novices he did.

Anyway, he is by a stallion called HAMLET anyone know of this stallion?

As in Hickstead's sire? He's certainly a lot better known after HK!

I looked at a Hamlet this year - very nice horse, correct, sensible, and seemed athletic enough although I didn't really test him. It wasn't the right fit for me but the seller got a good (but fair, I think) price for him, I believe over what she was asking.

Other than Hickstead though, he's not particularly well known as a stallion. I suspect more will come out of the wood work now. Priced accordingly.:) Hamlet is decently bred in his own right although Ekstein, Hickstead's broodmare sire is also a good horse and people who should know told me his dam is a very nice mare so I don't know how much came from each side. No idea his worth as a eventing stallion although Hickstead is certainly on the "blood" end of the spectrum.

BUT there is also a Knabstrupper, Hamlet Freydenlund that I've seen referred to as just Hamlet who graded well and shows dressage.

Hickstead's dam, Jomara (by Ekstein), has also produced an international eventing horse and a full-brother to Hickstead that is approved by Zangersheide. Hickstead jumps like an Ekstein progeny, in my opinion: he is careful, bold, and fights FOR his rider.

I bred and co-own (with a Belgian young rider) an Ekstein son named Ulysses M2S that is approved by the AES and is jumping 1.40 m. internationally as a 7-year-old.

I also have two 2-year-old Ekstein stallions (Ballistic M2S -- Ekstein x Condios x Cor de la Bryere) and Boy Toy M2S (Ekstein x Limmerick x Nimmerdor) that we are producing as stallion prospects (they come in from a life on grass tomorrow to begin work).
