Is anyone going to the Hampton sponsored ride on Sunday? It's only the second sponsored ride I've been to and I was just wondering if anyone had been before and knows what it is like?

Also, I found out about it too late to send form in so what time is it best to turn up as a late entry (it said on their site that they accept entries on the day)?

i've been 4 times - love it. haven't been since 2005 so really looking forward to it. it's always mega busy - loads of people, some nutty ones who want to charge past you, but you get them at all sponsored rides. ground is fab sand, never too hard and loads of jumps all different heights. just turn up any time - they always let people ride if they've turned up.

Merlin thought it was a giant race, and that he had to win.

I dont know how many people I had to shout SORRY to, as he carted me through hoards of people who had the ordacity (sp) to be in front of Merlin the racehorse

Even after I beasted him round the gallops he still had the energy to jog for the last half hour

Brilliant ride and jumps though.... if you have brakes!!!

i rode my old boy there one year - 4 miles of roadwork there trudging his feet the whole way. he then bounced and reared his way round 8 miles and the gallops and jogged the whole 4miles home full of beans. those were the days. hoping new pony doesn't think it's toooo exciting!

Sooooooo excited now! Whoop! I'm guessing Zoomy will be doing mini-rears the whole way round but I am blessed with great brakes so bring it on. I do have a stinking cold but I reckon I will forget about it the moment we set off

A few from my yard are going and I was offered a place in the lorry but after being bounced around sideways for the entire 5 miles of the last sponsored ride I did, I politely declined the offer

Have fun to all those who are brave enough

amazing time. pony did spend some time on his back legs but only when we had to wait for other people to get out of the way so we could jump - he jumped all the jumps including some of the big bonus fences - so chuffed with him.
