The dam new hamster is chewing through the cage :/ .. Through the plastic bottom bit ..the hole is the size of a 20p coin :/ help

we had one that did that and we ended up having to get a 3ft glass tank for him, glass is not ideal as there is less air flow which is why we got such a big tank for him

Is it a syrian by any chance?
My syrian does that when he's in the plastic cage where the bottle is supposed to stick through, damn hamsters!
My friend had one that chewed the base and I think she ended up putting one of this little plastic tubs with the lids on filled with water in, over the hole. Her hamster never did manage to move that and he took to climbing on it instead.
