I decided as I had a day off today to have a break from schooling and headed off to Hamsterley. On a night after work I've got no choice other than going in the indoor school so it was lovely to get out in the fresh air.
I met a friend and we had a lovely hack for about an hour and a half/two hours and still only covered a fraction of the forest. Its nice to be able to go somewhere horse friendly - in the car park there is a mounting block and hitching posts so you could go for a picnic in the summer. The weather was a bit miserable but we were sheltered from the worst of it by the trees. All in all it was a lovely day out and a definite improvement on being at work.

Hey there !

I am hoping to get there when the weather picks up, I will go on my ned and my sis is wanting to take her bike.
Really looking forward to it.

I'm sure you'll love it -I've been a few times now. Its actually a good time of year to go now as it's quite quiet through the week. In the middle of summer theres lots of back packers and families out picnicing. If you've got dogs I'd take them too - its a great place for dogs - mine don't stop running all day and then flop when I get home - it takes a lot of exercise to get my dogs tired!

It is a beautiful place you are right. I used to live in Bishop so took the dogs regularly but now I'm not so close it has to be a special trip. Fortunately the old yard where I used to keep Jen is 10 minute drive from there so I can catch up with old YO at the same time as having a nice ride out.
