Hanchurch Woods/Swynnerton Old Park - riding permit?

We were supposed to be going to Somerford Park Farm today. They called this morning to cancel as they'd had alot of rain and thunderstorms overnight.

So we boxed up and took the horses to Hanchurch Woods instead, which is fairly local (about 30 mins drive).

We parked by the picnic area but rode across into Swynnerton Old Park which is forestry commission land. There is a sign up that says riders need permits. We had a sneaky look to see what the tracks were like to ride on and it was great. Would like to get a permit.

Anyone ride over there and have any idea how much they are?

i ride in hanchurch (about 2 mins away from it)and have never had a permit no1 on our yard does that sign has been up for ages and we have never been told off or anything hope we dont have to get 1 we have enough to pay for already

I assumed it's ok to ride on the Hanchurch side but as soon as you cross the road into Swynnerton Old Park you should have a permit? I've never been before but wouldn't like to be "told off" for being somewhere we shouldn't.

It was a lovely ride. We got deep into the Old Park bit, hacking along the fence line at the edge of the woods and farms next to it. We could see the train lines just down from Stableford at one point. Was quite undulating terrain to navigate around there on a very narrow track.

there are the permit signs for hanchurch never been over the other side

is there a number you can ring up or anything?

Yeah, I took down the number and shall ring them tomorrow. Was hoping someone might know how much it was before I die of shock when they tell me.

We didn't ride much over Hanchurch but never saw a sign on there saying we needed a permit. Only sign we saw was saying no horse riding over the picnic area. Wonder if they'd have minded that we'd already walked to the picnic benches to get on before we noticed those signs.
