Handisport was, until yesterday, unknown to me. I know that we have competitors in dressage, the Para category.Well, I watched the French National Championship, and International Championship, for riders who have a disability. They were JUMPING courses of 1.10, and 90cm respectively. We (the Brits )were represented by a team of wonderful ladies, who did really well. Chatting to someone at breakfast today, we were told that the horses were borrowed,so unfamiliar ones. The show was one of the biggest indoor ones in France.Later on, the same arena held a World Cup qualifier. Thats how big an occasion it was.To see these people go round was an absolutely humbling experience, and when the blind riders went round, there were many tears among the appreciative audience. The trainer jumped the course on a horse, with the blind riders horse following. The trainer shouted, un, deux, trois, to the competitor as he counted down the strides, right and left as needed. These guys bought the house down.I'm sorry I didnt make my self known to you girls, if any of you would like to pm me, I would be thrilled.I believe that the ever popular Tim Stockdale was generous in his support. A huge well done. I hope this post doesnt offend any of you, and that I have tried to be as PC as I can. And also a huge cheer for Tim for an absolutely brilliant World Cup, he came a close third on Corlato, Michael had a brave try, last to go, commiserations to William, who had the misfortune to be drawn first out of 40 in the opening round.
