I hope none of you had the extra hour in bed as your horses would not know the clocks had changed ! The usual suspect at our yard conspicuous by absence even at 12 o'clock, which is really 1 o'clock.Makes me so cross !
got up at 5am to take OH to work and back in bed by 6 then slept til 9 ,up yard by 10 ,still felt bad cos im usually on yard by 8.45!! ( im the only one there before 4 so put all the DIY horses out otherwise theyd be stuck in all day! lol
Sorry but we had the extra hour in bed - only because for the last fortnight we have gone to the yard at our usual time - 6.30am - to find the horse fast asleep and not wanting to get up!!!! This morning she was still half asleep so didn't panic about the extra hour.
No lie in, up an hour earlier (new time) with baby! Made horses wait half an hour longer until 7.30 to get them used to going out in light as it would be virtually impossible to get them out earlier everyday with having a baby in tow!
I was at yard at usual time old time but there was only 2 of us there everyone else rolled up at 9.30 new time but actually none of the horses seemed to notice!
Gave the horses extra hay last night and arrived half hour later than normal to find them all munching.................seems they knew the clocks went back after all
Um. Horses Have no Concept of time! They don't kick up a fuss for breakfast because its 6am, they create when they see the person arrive That usually feeds them! If They were left with enough hay and water over night they Would be content until their Morning routine started not because of the time
I take a week to change them over to be on the later time, I hate the clock changes, its the only time of the year when I am undecided if to have the horses brought in at the yard catch in time of 2.30/3pm or leave them till i get too them after work at about 5. Bit of a long dark treck for us, but I dont like them standing in too long.
I didn't put my clock back last night (intentionally) so I was up at the usual time to go to the stables, as mine are in. It was weird driving there though, as everyone else was obviously still in bed, so driving through our small town was like a scene from 28 Days Later!!!
Spooky!!!
I always used to split the difference by 30 min over the weekend. But quite frankly as its been so dark recently I don't think they noticed. They are creatures of habit, so if the general public are not up and doing the usual things their body clocks adjust. We live on a fairly busy side road so I expect dog walkers at certain times alert them to breakfast coming. I enjoyed my extra hour this morning and spent it dreaming but my dog did come an gaze at me apparently at 5.30am but the paw didn't arrive to wake me. My OH was awake.
