Who else is a worrywart?? I've always worried, to an extent (so that's pretty much fifteen years of worrying ), but I think because the cats are older now I worry more! Worry about the dogs too of course! One of my cats has ongoing symptoms, she was ill before and there's definitely something going on, plus she needs dental work. The other needs a cyst removing, and is already booked in! So that's operations for each! I know they will be fine, but I can't help thinking of their age and imagining worst-case scenarios. It doesn't help that a few years ago I did some work experience in a vets, and saw a cat coming round from the anaesthetic - I know, I know, they are fine, but it was distressing for me personally, seeing them trying to get up or move and falling against the sides of the cage, this cat was left in a wire carrier under a heat lamp, on its own :( I'm half dreading it, half wanting it to be over and done with.

I can be a worrier.

But I rather take my pets to the veterinarian once too much, than once too little. I have for example taken an older cat to the veterinarian because I thought that her pees in the litter box was more wet than they had used to be, felt quite stupid trying to explain that, I mean after all pee is usually wet, however blood test showed that her kidneys wasn't functioning as well as they had used to do, with a veterinary diet food we managed to keep her happy for a while, but then we had to let her go.

I always worry if one of my pets needs anaesthesia, I had a neighbour who only needed a quite simple surgery, but died due to not tolerating the anaesthesia, so I definitely know that surgery involves risks. But, even though I've been there a few times when my pets have woken up, I can't say that I've been disturbed by them being groggy when waking up, if a short discomfort makes them well again, then I can be okay with that.

Sorry, I didn't mean for my reply to be so much about the negative sides of pet owning and surgery. So to compensate I will post this funny smiley

I hope that all goes as well as possible with your cats. (((Hugs)))
