Hanging cheek french link bit- info please

The hanging cheek means it is slightly suspended in the mouth which means it will be slightly stiller in the mouth than standard snaffles, and can suit horses who dislike alot of tongue pressure, and can also make it slightly more difficult for them to lean on the bit. The frenck link means there is no nutcracker action, but the bit will put pressure on lips and to some extent bars of the mouth. Some people think there is slight poll pressure from the bit, but it really is very minimal if at all. Does that help!?

Thanks thats a great help.

My mare has started leaning really badly , I've tried her in a waterford and she really dislikes it, throwing her head around. Her teeth have been checked and seem fine. She is opening her mouth and leaning and crossing her jaw. Was going to try a different noseband when someone suggested i could try their hanging cheek french link- I didnt have time to ask them how it worked.

It sounds a though it might be worth a try?

Definitely worth a try, can lighten them slightly infront as the bit isnt flat in their mouths so is slightly more difficult to lean on. They are nice bits!

I used one in my TB for dressage as he had a tendency to lean. The action meant he found it harder to lean, and I also felt I had slightly more breaks than in a standard snaffle.

I ride my mare in one for hunting and jumping it just seems to give me that one up from the loose ring french link that I normally ride in. I also think horses tend to know what is going to happen and reacts differently as soon as this bit is put in!
