I classify it as a mild bit, gentle on the mouth, working on poll pressure. My boys like them anyway

I use one for general hacking with my girl, she likes it. She was in a loose ring snaffle but i find this a lot more stable in her mouth and no risk of the bit going through her mouth if we have to do a handbrake turn )) (I don't like the long straight bar cheekpieces on bits normally recommended for that, I know they have leather keepers but they still look dangerous to me...
I don't find the hanging part makes it noticeably stronger than a normal French link but I do like and I think she does the fact it stays fairly still in her mouth.

Mild bit. Stable in mouth and won't pull through on a turn, so very good if horsey's steering is a bit dodgy.
Encourages nose-pokers to soften onto bit, without going stronger.
French link will sit nicely across the tongue and leaves plenty of room in mouth. You can go even milder with a lozenge, but I have found that depending on mouth/tongue shape, some horses prefer the french link.
