Hello, my name is lucy and i am a rug-aholic... its been just over a week since i bought my last rug... a 400gm turnout for my mare...who is currently in foal and doesn't wear a rug!

I hang my head in shame with you. On total impulse I bought my yearling a new heavy weight night rug on the way home from work yesterday. I thought she may a little cold.

After swearing I had enough rugs and was going to go steady with her .........

I too have a problem with impulsive rug buying. My boy has 30 rugs now, one, sometimes 2 in each weight for both indoor and outdoor use without counting the numerous sweat rugs, fleeces, coolers, travel rugs etc. I always seem to "need" to change them each year as well as a new one comes out which just has something my current doesn't like a bigger tail flap ...what a sucker I am!

Hi my name's Jo and i'm a rug-aholic too!

I bought William a new rug last week because he was a good boy for the vet!

My previous rug purchase was 4 days before, because it was there, staring at my saying "buy me! buy me!

Total rugs 29...

Wow!! 30 rugs for one horse... I will have to show hubby this post to prove that my current 8 or 9 rugs per horse is actually pretty restrained...then maybe I'll be allowed the really expensive FAL stable rug with the neck cover... H'mmm...got to drive right past The Barn Shop tomo on the way to pick up a carful of rugs from being washed & repaired... And we've had a cheap winter cos horsie off sick, so no lessons / shows etc...

Ooh it's an RA meeting, I'd better join in! My horse does NOT need more rugs (already has about 15, and her previous owner stuck her in a field with a lw on all winter as she's a hairy ID!) but my fabby tack shop is having a rug sale this weekend so I'm planning on buying more tomorrow! I seem to think she needs that nice Weatherbeeta 'Belmont' heavy stable rug, just because it's purple an that is 'her' colour!

Also going to but expensive XC boots (£60 Prolite ones) and expensive bit (£70 KK) so it's a good job I went to work today!

Maybe I'm just a horsey-shopaholic?? Rugs are definately my 'thing' though!

I have an excellent excuse. I bought our old pony three more rugs because she didn't die this summer. I was sure she would, and celebrated by purchasing a lilac fleece, a combo quilt and a turnout for her when she didn't! Think the premise is a bit flimsy for the seven year old. Will have to think up another valid reason for getting him another....
