Well we went to Peppers Farm yesterday for the Grading - my mare got graded into the main stud book and foaly qualified for the main show in september !!

But I need some help how do i get the foal to stop thinking its play time when we go in the ring??? she is so independant so doesnt follow mum and bucks and canters round like its fun !!! (im sure it is)

most foals i have bred before follow mum when in a new environment - but not this one !!!!!!!!!!!!

My filly is just the same. I thought it easier to exploit her confident streak rather than trying to ignore it so we have started taking her for little walks into our school to get ring ready. She is out of eye and ear shot of Mum and neither are bothered even though filly only 8 weeks n a bit.
Good luck in September!

Mine is exactly the same. At the Futurity they just commented on her boldness, and said something along the lines of we hope that her boldness stands her in good stead in her future.

i cant beleive she absolutely refuses to follow her mother - the supposed bred dressage foal was jumping the poles though as if they were 3ft !!!

hmmmm maybe i should keep her x

Perhaps 2008 will to be the year of the Bold Fillies! Mine has jumped out of the school. I measured her today and she is 12hh. What have we let ourselves in for?????!!!!!!!!!

Mine did the same at the futurity, when mum stopped she decided she wanted a look around on her own playing with the flowers at the corner of the triangle. She came when i called her but didn't care where she was!
