Tank celebrated his 9th Birthday yesterday. I can't believe how quick the last almost 4 years have gone, and I sometimes can't help wishing we were further ahead in our riding journey (competing BD, moving up the levels), because we are only just cracking a semi balanced canter now, but then I have to remember he had almost his 7yr old year off for different injuries, and only in last 12 months has he really looked like a proper horse, and not 2/3 different ones put together. Then I tell myself just to appreciate the journey we have been on, and love what I ahve in front of me because he is such a genuine little horse, and nearly everyone on my yard wants themselves a 'Tank'!
Anyway to celebrate I decided to get back on and ride this weekend to get some 'birthday' photos. The lockdown and a sarcoid surgery kept us on groundwork for about the last 7/8 weeks. Am so proud because despite the time off he was like we hadn't had a break, did lots of stretchy trots/leg yields/ the hexagon exercise. Hopefully we can crack on a bit now and get rid of some of the spring chub!
Shameless picture post really, just because I love him.
P.S we did go on the left rein...
