I cant believe how many emotions I can have, all mixed up into one!!!
I had a habit when Benson was alive, the last thing I used to do as I went home was to rub his nose and say 'night baby, luv ya'. Just one of those sentances that was the norm for me and Benson.
And tonight, I said it to Donovan.
It just kinda tripped off my tongue and really shocked me that I said it.
On one hand I feel it was mine and Bensons, exclusive just to us, so feel almost disloyal to him.
But on a happier side, I feel that my bond is growing day by day with the little man.
Pointless post really, but just feeling happy that I am building a good new relationship!

Completely understand where you are coming from Benson21. And am very happy for you that things are going so well with your new lad.

I know what you mean... I've always said to our boys as I turn out the yard light "night night, be good" and then the same to the hens as we go through their roost (above the yard entrance!). I've said it to every horse and every hen about a million times over.

I'm glad that you are forming a new bond and that things are settling down for you both.

If you're going doolally, join the gang :D

Tiggy used to be called Tiggy-Two-Shoes. The other day, I said "Dizzy-Two-Shoes". It felt strange, but good, but strange... I still have Tiggy's last two shoes.

Hugs hun.

I did this last week... I used to call starla lady la la, and sometimes refered to her as lady. I was making the feeds up in the morning when little tb stuck her head over the door and i said goodmorning my little lady. I wasnt too sure what to think about it, so i muttered an appology to the sky and vowed never to do it again:o

I used to whistle to my old boy. I only had to whistle and he would come running. I haven't whistled to any other horse since the day he laid down but today, funny enough, I done the same whistle without thinking to my Daughter's shetland. Took my breath away when I realised what I had done and felt guilty that I had used "our" whistle on another horse.

It may sound silly, but it bought tears to my eyes.

Sorry boy.

Must be something in the water......

I've always really liked my new horse...but you can't help comparing can you?

But last week or so he keeps giving me kisses and sniffing my hair. And I realised a few days ago I love him for him now- not as a relacement IYKWIM.

Onwards and upwards eh peeps:)

I know exactly what you mean.
