I can't believe I've had the little fella for two years now.
It was his birthday yest but I had no internet so couldn't post to tell you all
(Infact I had no electric all day
)
Anyway two years ago my life changed forever.
I never wanted a dog. Don't get me wrong I loved dogs and looked after many for other people but never wanted one of my own. Even when I was a child I never asked for a puppy.
At the begining of 2009 I started a new job. There were two JRT I had to look after as part of my job. Dolly and her son Ben. Dolly used to love going ratting and would often be gone for several hours. One day I noticed Dolly was looking rather fat. We took her to the vets as we didn't know if she was pregnant or had cancer again. (Afew months before I started she had an operation to remove cancer from down her front) When we got to the vets they said the scanner was broken but she could feel two masses that could be cancer or puppys and we should come back on Mon when the scanner had been fixed.
I went home for the weekend but when I returned on the Sun eve dolly had gone into labour. She was trying to push but nothing was happening so at 11pm we took her to the vets for an emergancy cecarian. After midnight we got a phone call to say she had had one puppy. The vets thought it was best that she came home. There is no one at the vets overnight and as dolly was so ill they thought it best she came home. I went with my boss to collect her. We put dolly on the back seat and the vet handed me a tiny little bundle. I unrapped the towel alittle and inside was the smallest little thing I have ever seen. I just instantly fell inlove. Dolly was to ill the first night to feed her little puppy so I stayed up and fed him every two hours. Noone expected the little one to servive but he proved everyone wrong. his little charector quickly emerged and he proved what a tough little man he realy was.
He went from strength to strength over the next few months. I despratly wanted to buy him. At first my boss said no as she wanted him gone
Then she agreed to let me take him home afew weekends to see if he got on with my OHs dog Gem.
Charlie and Gem got on great. Gem was so gentle with him and they quickly became firm friends (although Charlie was the boss
). After a couple of weekends my boss changed her mind again and said she didn't want me to have him as if I ever left I would take him with me and they didn't want him to go
I was devestated. I had to leave him behind when I went home for the weekend and it felt like a part of me was missing all weekend.
But when I returned to work on the Sun eve I was so happy when my boss sat me down and said she had desided to let me buy him.
It turns out the little fella had missed me to and he had spent all weekend crying.
From that moment on he was mine
.
We spent every posable moment together. But it my world nearly fell appart when he was 10 months old
My OH took him for a walk on the downs while I was still working. He returned with him and put him in the house and came out to help me my fin work. After about 30mins my boss came running out the house and said "Laura, Charlie has just been sick all over the diningroom floor" I ran inside to find poor charlie running round shaking (He looked like he was having a fit but he was still awake
) I rang my sister (who's a vetenary nurse) She told me to get charlie to the vets streight away as something was seriously wrong. I grabbed Charlie and the OH and I drove him to the vets. We got there just in time as as we arrived he went into a full on fit. The vets said if we haddn't have been at the vets we would have lost him.
He spent three nights in intensive care. The vets didn't know what was wrong with him and didn't expect him to make it
I was so scared he was going to die and I didn't sleep for days. After about a week he was finaly aloud home.
He was still quite ill and had to be kept quiet but the vets now thought he had eatern slug pellets while out on the walk and had been poisoned. He was very very lucky to still be alive. He continued to improve and soon he was back to his normal cheeky self
.
He won first prize in a photo competion just before he was one
and we've been to loads of family dog shows and we always come home with plenty of rosettes. Everyone just seems to fall inlove with the little fella.
We've had two fantasic years so far with trips to the beach, lots of walking in the forest and we've even been on a canal boat holiday. He helped me through the loss of my belovid pony. He would always know when I was getting sad (and still does) and he would come over for a cuddle and if I started crying he would lick the tears off my face. He always knows just how to make me laugh

He's such a lovely dog and i'm so glad he came into my life.
Happy birthday little fella. Heres to many many more. xx
WOW that is an epic post
Thankyou if you read all the way to the end. Have a slice of birthday cake and some ice cream and jelly

Heres a little vid I made for the little Fella. It has cute puppy pics in it. Hope you like it
