For those that dont know, Boss is on loan to Hartpury college as a stage 3/4 schoolmaster. I was at a total loss what to do with him when I retired him from eventing last summer and a very kind HHOer came to my rescue. They grey lump sadly disgraced himself one too many times and so, as a last resort, I contacted Talland and Hartpury.
He went last spring and they were v happy with him and he came home for the summer in great condition. He went back in September and they are so brilliant about keeping in contact. He's so happy there, in his absolute element with hoardes of students to give him fuss, they all love him.
Just spoke to the yard manager tonight and he said he's being great, they've even started jumping him again

Would recommend it to anyone stuck with a horse that can no longer compete who wouldnt be content being a happy hack.

Aww so nice to hear he's doing well! Such a relief for you! I'm visiting sometime (when my college gets itself organised for the trip) so I'll sneak some polos up for him and go and give him a pat

oh how wonderful !! i dont think i could send mine there though she may kill a few students xx

Tbh, it was touch and go whether Boss may kill students but they only put staff on him to start with and only the best students are allowed on him. He's helping to develop their seats!!

I think it is great that he is doing so well there

Have to admit, I still can't get used to seeing you on a bay horse in your avatar- just doesn't look *right* lol! But don't tell Moon I said that...

That is great news. And how nice for someone to actually believe that other people are able to ride their old horse! How are students meant to improve unless they get the chance to ride some "proper" horses? Well done for giving both Boss AND the students a chance!

That's great he is happy, I have loaned my old cob to the RDA and she is also being shared by 2 mums to hack out with their kids. She is no longer 100% sound but is doing enough to allow her to eat lots so she is happy.

Yay, I'm glad Boss is happy and being a good boy.
We are looking for a horse just like Boss, though I bit bigger for work, something retiring from comps but still got life in them.
