So we all know we have bad ones with our horses , and like me at these times we turn to the forum for comfort and advise. But today I had one of those days that made me smile inside with my 19 year old mare Lina, we have been together nearly 10 years and oh how she has made me work for these moments.

She can be wild ! I had hoped that becoming a mum might settle her somewhat but I have been bringing her back into work slowly and she has shown no signs of this having any effect. Today I rode her in the school for only the 3rd time in 2 years... and she was amazing !!! :-) Acute walk to canter transitions and a flying change, leg yields and a neat turn on the forehand without a single diva buck rear or grunt (which is unusual believe me) 2 weeks ago she came in lame on her left fore and I went home and cried until my fringe stuck to my face, the kind of cry where your other half pats you on the shoulder and isn't sure what to do. Her old bones had been struggling with all this cold mud but 2 weeks TLC and anyone would think she was that nimble 9 year old working hunter pony again

I am over the moon , somedays just make you think .... This is why I do it !

Thank you Lina

How nice to hear about a good day :D They do make up for all the 'fringe sticking' ones, don't they?
Was talking to a friend last night and she reminded me about the day last year when we got caught out riding, it began to snow. Cue two adult riders (both with very responsible jobs) riding up the road with our heads tilted as far back as possible, catching snow flakes on our tongues  Those are the moments when we realise why we put up with all the other ones :)

Thanks for posting YorksG

I just thought everyone might like to hear something posative rather than angry rants for a change ! It's been such a long hard winter and I have forgotten what it feels like to get something back from her - I am still buzzing a little bit now, we put so much emotion into these animals, it's not just time and money

Need to get her a new saddle now as borrowed a friend since mine got stolen last year - looking forward to enjoying the summer with her now :-)
