My 18 yr old daughter had a horrible year with her horse going lame in Feb 2011. After box rest ,initial investigations and a weeks stay at Newmarket, stifle damage and a guarded prognosis was given. Daughter was gutted and all plans had to be scrapped. She had small paddock turnout,a very slow rehab schedule twice daily in all weathers, not easy as she was high maintenance and several return trips to newmarket. All seemed to be going well as her work gradually increased but 4 months in she deterorated significantly and she became unmanagable. i dont think she could cope emotionally as much as anything, anyway on vets advice she was pts in September. Daughter was distraught but we decided against a new horse as university looms however she is now staying on at college for another year, changed her mind re courses and wants to be a paediatric nurse so we started to consider a loan horse. The upshot is we were offered a part loan on a lovley 16.2 hanoverian mare, schoolmistress been there and done it type and after a weeks trial have agreed to it. I am so happy for her and she has now told me how much she has missed it all. Seeing her cantering up the hill on this lovley mare when she hadnt ridden since sept and hasnt jumped in over a year made me well up. just wanted to share my little bit of happiness as i know we all have the highs and lows and after a year from hell i truly hope this will be a good one..

Lovely news - Its good to have something positive to well up at! well done. When she's finished with her mare & goes to uni - hand her over to me :p
