Just needed to share, after a lot of false starts, 1 step forward and 5 back with my mare, we have finally yesterday and today cracked cantering on the lunge, she now strikes off when asked, we do 3 or 4 strides then i bring her back to trot which she does as soon as asked. I am so happy being a trotter cross it has taken quite a while to slow the trot right down and for her to get her balance. She is doing well in our lessons so things are going brilliantly

it's great when you achieve something new with your horse. I used to have a mare who had been driven and would pace every time she got in a stress over anything. She could jump amazingly and when I could get it would canter reasonably well but the second she got upset about anything she would automatically pace again.
