Which would be better to feed to a small "lives on air" pony when in work, mainly hacking and jumping at home? Also .. whats the difference between them?

I feed happy hoof and have never known a small 'lives on fresh air' not to like it. They've all done well on it. It even smells nice

I also feed a basic hi fibre low calorie nut which i put in a feed ball if they're stabled. Keeps them entertained for hours and totally safe if they only have half a scoop a day. It means I can feed less hay too.

I've not fed healthy hoof, so cannot comment but can recommend happy hoof.

Happy hoof gave a friends horse low grade lamintis - even though it has laminitic trust badge. I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

I am afraid I do not know the difference, I expect there is not a great deal, theses type of feeds are all basically chaff after all.

I feed happy hoof and recently added hi fi lite as its a coarser cut than happy hoof so I hoped by adding it I could in the long run save some pennies. She also gets hi fibre nuts. Any of these hi fi chaffs are good, I like them to be lammi approved even if a pony/horse has not suffered from it, its designed for those prone to weight gain and you know its safe for a fattie prone

theres not a huge amount of difference in them, healthy hooves has extra biotin in it. they both do the same job.

How do you know happy hoof gave them lami? unless the horse was soley fed happy hoof as opposed to soaked hay if it was lami prone (and if it wasnt lami prone assume it was on grass or hay in which case could be either of those?)

I have fed both of these and this year i have fed my nf gelding healthy hooves and he as got quite fat on it so i am feeding less and less each week untill i find the right amount so it could work out cheaper for me than happy hoof.
Too be honest it looks the same smells the same and i would think the same amount of calories so not sure why he as put on weight, i need to look at the websites and find out the feed value of both which is something i have not done.

Really, that is shocking, I have never heard of one of these feeds doing that

I have never had any trouble with it

I feed Happy Hoof.. Its fine for my NF Pony, and my Shire that's retired.

Something else I have used with sucesses is bailey Low cal balancer, althou more money in one go, but not in the long run, its basically a pellet form of all the vits and Mins they need and nothing else...

Might be worth looking at too... I will be chaning my NF to this come spring.

I have fed Happy Hoof and D did very well on it but was still a bit too fat even with loads of exercise so i swapped her onto Good Doer. Not as appetising, looks alot like chopped straw but she eats it and isn't fat at all.

I have fed both over a period of time. I found Healthy Hoof to be more moist and mollassey than Happy Hoof, which was quite dry. A sack of Healthy Hoof seemed to go further but thats cos Dengie sacks are packed quite loose where Spillers bags are tightly packed, which makes them a bit messy in my opinion. Horses seemed to like them both. Both are not just chaff but have a few nuts and bits in and vits and mins.

Tho one day me laddo decided he wasn't eating Healthy Hoof any more. So now he get Spillers Cool Fibre with nuts chucked in. It's even lower in Calories and I much prefer his behaviour on it!
