Right....I was rather bored earlier on so went net surfing and happened upon another equine forum. Now don't worry guys and gals,I was no traitor...I stayed loyal to HHO and declined to join.

BUT,I did read a few of the feed related posts,and the vast majority of people who commented were staunchly anti-Happy Hoof

Their reasoning for this was based upon the assumptions that it's heavily molassed(

), AND that it makes horses fizzy(

)

Now,I was under the impression that it's neither molassed, nor is it particularly calorific,and has little in it that would cause "fizzy" behaviour.

So my question is,am I wrong?

Has never made any of mine fizzy and don't believe it is heavily molassed. I *think*, dredging back in my unreliable memory, that it may contain molasses extract, but not molasses itself. And because it is Laminitis Trust approved there is a limit to how much soluble carbohydrate it can contain.

Well our little laminitic pony at our yard is on it ( vet recommended) So God knows how its 'heavily molassed' plus I think it's approved by the laminitis trust, ( could be wrong

I wish it made mine fizzy - I've had to add a working mix to try and get some energy out of her - she's been on it without any problems for the last 2 years. I can't remember seeing molasses in the ingredients - its quite dry in texture.

We feed Happy Hoof in the belief that it is a low sugar feed. We'd feed plain chaff if we could find it, but HH seems fine. It does seem unlikely that it would make a horse fizzy, but some horses can react differently to feeds. Toffee can eat unlimited carrots, Beano gets hyper after more than three! As HH is approved by the Laminitis Trust I would think you could feel pretty confident in feeding it. So no, you are not wrong!
