My TB is on Hifi and fibre nuts and pink powder at the moment. The grass is really coming through at our yard, it's really lush and iv'e dropped his feed to just a scoop of chaff and a handful of nuts with his pinkpowder x2 per day as he is looking well and he doesnt need anything else.

I was going to buy another bag of fibre nuts today as i'm running out but tbh not sure there is much point when hes only having a handful but I think just plain chaff is a bit boring. Therefore was thinking of buying a bag of happy hoof instead as I know it has little pellets in it and giving him a scoop of that morning and night with his pink powder.

What do you think sensible option? Also can you put happy hoof in a snack ball or does it not really work?

Thanks

Mine is on a half scoop of Happy Hoof and she loves it!! I will cut down to a handful though when she goes into her new field as the grass is very good in there!

I give it to her as I need to add her supplements.

Happy Hoof is a good idea if you're not looking for anything high in calories, and it is indeed more interesting than plain old chaff. The biotin content is a plus if your boy's feet are anything like my last TB!

I personally wouldn't put it in a snack ball as I think a fair bit would be wasted, unless your boy is a bit of a hoover!

Happy Hoof is also pretty cheap and seems to be lasting me a fair while, especially if you're only giving two scoops a day :)

Thanks! Yep Joanna thats what I thought, i need to get some more chaff soon so it makes sense to buy a bag of Happy Hoof insead of a bag of chaff AND a bag of fibre nuts.

I suppose I could chop up some bits of carrot for the treat ball or maybe get some healthy treats of some sort. :)

Our tb wont eat his d-itch, garlic in hi-fi without his nuts but he doesnt need them, he eats it fine with the happy hoof and no nuts.

X

It would work well altho personally I always think Happy Hoof is a bit dry and sawdusty compared with Healthy Hooves (the Dengie one) which is lovely and moist. Even veteran is on that now as he prefers it to his previous blue chip gold nuggets etc! fine by me!

Thanks MB. I've already done it :D. Its got a DE of 8, and the hifi he normally has is 8.5 and the fibre nuts 9 so he should be fine. :). He is in decent work anyway so needs something :).

Stupid hho cut out before I'd finished. I was going to say with the work Jae gets the difference probably wouldn't matter!

(Ps it is nice to hear people keeping their TBs feed simple. Just because its a TB you don't need to pump it full of oats and competition mixes ;) )

I think you need to post a picture of him to add to this thread. Photos of him are much appreciated! :D

Oh boobs, just checked and turns out I feed the Dengie equivalent... Healthy Hooves. I'm sure it's similar stuff though! :P

Thank you, he looks awful on his simple diet doesn't he lol, he's spent all winter on hifi and a scoop of fibre nuts a day. I am lucky that the grass is good where we are so that helps. Its keeping the weight off in the summer, he can get a bit fat and norty on the green stuff :p.
