Its IMBOLC a cross quarter day ;the beginning of spring :D. Celebrate the returning of the light with candles and white flowers and lights. A bright dry Imbolc following a windy xmas is reckoned to foretell a good year ahead.
Happy Imbolc everyone.

Imbolc doesn't stand for anything, its simply the name of the festival. According to BBC, it comes from an old irish word:
Imbolc (pronounced 'im'olk' also known as Oimelc) comes from an Irish word that was originally thought to mean 'in the belly' although many people translate it as 'ewe's milk' (oi-melc).
"in the belly" referrs to in the belly of ewes - as the ewes would either have babies at foot or in their bellies - but I know nothing about farming, so don't flame me for being wrong!!

In olden times it would have been the official start of the farming year, so kind of significant for horsey, outdoorsy folk!

Happy Imbolc Horsesforever1!
(and it's bright and dry here, so I'm glad to hear it foretells a good year ahead, thanks for that!!)
