I bought a young mare last year, she took a while to settle, and then tweaked something hooning around the field, so was lame for a few months. Then we had problems getting a saddle fitted, and before I knew it, we were in October and the grass paddock we use to school was too wet to use, so I hadn't really ridden her much.
Today I sat on her for the first time since then, I popped her on the lunge for a few minutes first, but she seemed fine, so I jumped on. She was a star, stood like a rock while I was mounting even though the block is still in a boggy end of the paddock, and we had 10 mins just walking and a bit of trot. She remembered leg yielding, and circles, and managed pretty well considering the unfit numpty she had on board. Hopefully this is the beginning of a good summer of progressing together!
So no real point to my post, I'm just feeling happy!
