Took the baby for a short hack this morning (BACKED 6 WEEKS AGO - 3.6yr old) has been hacking out lovely in company and is normally 100% with anything.
Well picture the scene - narrowish lane with hedges either side and a humongous tractor is heading toward us complete with a haylage wrapped bale stuck to the front with a trailer (very long full of haylage bales stacked up) and some very flappy black plastic licking the side of the trailer (bit windy) Friends normally sane mare says NO WAY!! backs off friend tries to get her past first (by this point very nice tractor man has turned off the engine) theres a gap about 2 horses width along side. So my baby looks at it, goes NO WAY tries to spin, me leg leg talk chatting away to her reassuringly, baby steps forward, ears forwards and backwards, really listening to me, tappy whip to go forward, baby steps lots of talking, coaxing etc and she walked straight past it, a little snorty but walked sensibly along side it, past the flappy plastic and led the older horse past it too. What a star!! lots of pats and good girls where in order!!
Really feel like we are bonding more than ever now under saddle, feel like shes starting to really trust me and she tries hard to please :D

What a little star!! You must be VERY proud.....

I have my first youngster, he has just turned one he saw his first 'horse eating monster' the other night (huge tractor with some massive trailer haylage wrapper thingy on the back) Had my cob there who was being ridden by a friend, tractor man stopped but kept engine on. Space was only about 3-4ft wide between tractor and ditch :0 Cob went straight passed followed by xander who stopped at the tractors wheel which was twice as high as him and gave it a good sniff the he proceeded to walk forward quite happily past it!!

Was so happy! Thank god for a nice tractor driver :) YAYYYY for brave babies!
