My D started another part of his education just yesterday. I have somebody fab (who also helped back my cob) in helping me to back him. So far he has been ridden away in
Walk and trot and cantered today and been for a walk up the lane. I hopped on and trotted him round, fab feeling riding your own pony for the very first time! Have waited over 3 years for it. He was fab so well behaved too and seems to be a very quick learner!
I was paranoid I would look tall on him as am 5'9.5 and he is 14.2, but I looked fine besides he has a bit of filling out to do yet!
Boot camp for pony and I continues till friday hoping to hack him out at wknd quietly with my mare

Well done. It must feel really great to watch them grow up and then be there right from the start of their ridden life.
Sounds like you're off to a great start Ive only have close up contact with one section D and he's really filled out between 4 and 6.

Sounds like he was worth the wait :smile3: Theres not much that's more exciting than bringing on your own youngster. Sounds like he's a star.

It is great isn't it! I haven't done it now for a few years. What a lovely post. I hope I will post the same when I back my lively Dales youngster this spring.

We took him on a mini hack this morning, such a good boy, he's super smart and a quick learner. Had our first canter in the school then Took him over a little bridge on a bridleway and past some scary bags and a cement mixer. He wasnt bothered!
Next week we have arranged a mini hack with s friend and a steady neddy will keep him ticking over till xmas then he can be turned away till march in time for spring
