Anyone fed this and if so what was the reason ?

I have a very sluggish horse at the moment and while nothing outwardly appears wrong (usual vital signs etc are ok, looks well, not stressed eats up etc, vet / pyhsio happy with him, usual checks done) just wondered, being a fatty and therefore on a strictly controlled fibre diet, with no sugars or starches, whether his digestive system is just a bit sluggish. It shouldn’t be really, given it’s a fibre diet plus a good vit & mineral supplement & a slosh of red cell. This stuff was recommended to me, so just pondering really.

I feed it to my horse who I nearly lost to colitis. The equine hospital where she was treated recommended it to help her digestive system after the colitis. She has had no further digestive issues since she has been on the Happy Tummy. I also feed it to my other horse if I need to change feed, grass etc and have noticed she no longer gets runny poo if changed onto long grass.

I haven't feed it but do bwonder how the charcoal knows to trap and clear through toxins and not the vits/mind in his system?

I think the thinking is that the particles ( not sure if that's the right word ) of the vits and mins are too big to be absorbed by the charcoal.
However if your horse is an medication you need to stop the charcoal or give several hours after the drugs before you feed it.
One of my horses who always had a runny tummy has been much improved by giving charcoal.

I feed it daily to my little mare after exhausting a seemingly endless list of potions and supplements to try and 'dry up' her poos. After almost a year of persistant scours, a trip to horsepital and just about every test you can imagine I was still no closer to stopping the problem.

Someone recommended I try Happy Tummy and the difference is incredible! I can't recomment it highly enough - little pony is so much more consistent and to manage any changes in her diet/routines I just adjust the dose. She's never looked better and the gas, scours and bloating have all but disappeared.

I do find though I have to give more or less chaff in line with the charcoal amount as if I get the balance wrong and it's too gritty she won't have it.
