There was a pony years ago who was going to be shot for being 'dangerous'. He came to the riding school i worked at for his last chance. You couldn't groom him, go in the stable without him spinning his bum on you and he bucked, napped and reared constantly when being ridden.

I won't say i was the only one, because there were a few people very fond of him, but i did look after him at weekends for 3 years and spent hours working on him picking his feet up etc and having his tail brushed. Someone else on the yard bought him and It broke my heart as i loved him to pieces but could not afford my own horse. We did have a bond and he really trusted me to do things with him before anyone else could.

When this person came to sell him i was distraught and over a week or two convinced my parents and OH to help me buy him. I went to the yard that weekend to ask but he had been sold the day before.

This must be about 5 years ago, at least, and i wonder about him all the time. He was such an affectionate cheeky chap and he was a different pony when he left, able to be ridden by (experienced) children. We won 3 years running of christmas gymkhanas too :D

Well, i have been a little obsessive at times and thought i had seen him on the internet, but i don't think it was him. However his old owner just posted a photo of him in his current home, with a gob full of hay and looking very pampered. It has really made my day to know he is so happy and loved, he's come a long way from that owner who wanted rid of a scared pony.

Pointless post, but i am in on my own and feel a bit overcome with emotion, so glad to see him looking content and loved :D

I forgot to say, it turned out that all his behavioural problems resulted from back problems, which was only discovered when he moved from the yard i knew him on. He had gone through about 4/5 years and 3 owners without anyone checking his back. I feel bad for my part in that time when he was in pain, but we had a lot of relaxed happy moments once he learned not to be scared/ aggressive so hopefully i made his time at that yard a little happier even if he was still in pain bless him :(

It is lovely to hear good news about horses/ponies instead of the the cruel and heartless actions that the human race inflict on animals.
