Harbridges are good for teaching horses self carriage and using his back end and genraly rounding, it one the only training aids I use and have had nice out comes with. We used to hack a gelding in it, you can school and jump small courses I think too.

I really am not a fan of a harbridge and certainly would never jump in one (a market harborough yes, but never a harbridge). No reason why you should only walk with one on that I can think of, they only come into play when a horse raises its head but it is attached directly to the bit so you must be aware of its action. In all honesty I do not think they help a horse to carry itself or use its back at all, but each to their own!

Had fantastic results using a harbridge both for flatwork and jumping, it actually taught one of my ponies to jump properly. Love it. Just don't do it up too tight, it should be tight enough to encourage the horse to carry itself properly.

Yes I've used it on loosely for hacking but you can only jump small jumps in it as when you jump bigger the horse needs to be able to stratch its head and neck without being restricted.

Weezy why would you jump in a market harborough, but not a harbridge? The MH IMO is harsher as there is no give so if the horse jerks his head up whilst jumping it gets a smack in the gob.
