Harbridges? Do they work?

Has anyone used a harbridge? I bought one for my mare to help encourage her to work long and low. There are no instructions with regards to what length it should be and for how long etc like they do with the pessoa's. Could anyone advise me on this and tell me how long it will be before you see a difference? Thanks
 
Ive always used them really loose, not sure how you slack you are supposed to have them, but i was always aware that if you put it on too much too quick you would pull muscles etc, but i dont know, only needed to use it once and that was really slack and never botherd again, Im sure someone on here will be able to help you out xxx
 
Dont have it baggy- you dont want to get a front leg caught.
They shouldnt hod the head down but should come into contact when the horse raises its head.
 
Yes and they are great! It taught my pony how to jump and another of my horses to work long and low. Because they only put pressure when the horse puts its head too high i think they are pretty safe as long as they are tightened correctly.
 
i used one on my old pony and it was really good! i cant remember exactly but i think its just enough to have a contact with the horse but cant remember exactly as it was years ago and my instructor sorted it out!
 
They are great for horses which try to avoid working properly esp those who try to bend their necks and fall out through their shoulders. I used one on a pony I had in for schooling which wouldn't canter. Her real problem was that she would bend her neck to one side and totally ignore what you were trying to tell her, the harbridge soon sorted that out. Make sure your horse is ok with the pressure on the mouth by not doing it up too tight to begin with or they might rear or panic.
