We've had torrential rain showers for 2 days!! our 4.5ft deep water butt that collects from the stable roof is nearly full!! however apart from a muddy patch where they were waiting by the gate when i went to bring in, we still have rock hard ground, the joys of clay soil

Our ground is rock hard to.

We have had a bit of rain but could really do with quite a lot more - need the grass to grow as well
crazy.gif
- the horses are hungry as there just isn't enough bulk to fill them up
crazy.gif
- are still being fed twice a day and having hay!!
blush.gif
If we don't get some proper rain soon the hay is going to be rare and expensive this winter.

Slinky- Mine are still on near winter rations which has never happened its hardest in 6 years weve had. We have had a bit of rain last night and a couple of days back but the strong winds have just dried it straight up

We've had soooo much rain. Rode the mare out yesterday, had a sudden down poor and she completely flipped out on the roads. Makes me wonder if she's had a bad experience in a thunder storm. She is normally 100% reliable on the roads but I'd never ridden out in rain like that before. I had to get off and lead her back whilst she was still trying to rear and head home at speed. Good job I always take my sister with me!

Same here - I don't normally feed mine at all in the summer as we have plenty of good grazing so just supplement as necessary - but are on a bit less than winter now.

Ground dries up as soon as it rains - no cantering when out for a couple of weeks now - only cantering in the school for the foreseeable.

I would so happily swap as i have a grass school so ive had to resort to riding every other day and very minimal canterwork. Me being the sort of obsessive person who rides each horse 6x a week lol it must be bad :p

Having the same problem here with the wind drying the ground as much as the sun does. We've had rain over the last few days but don't think there has been enough to make much of a difference

At the yard its well drained sandy soil but the field where Bella is has clay soil
