My horse has been 'off' for a week or so, not lame just not quite right. Got the vet out as i was getting worried he was gradually getting worse. Anyway to cut a long story short the vet thinks its nothing too serious just deep brusing around his heel area.
The ground is like concrete and he has been hooning around so all is explained really... ;)
Just wondered if anyone else has got lame horses/ponies at the moment, it must be effecting a fair few, and if so, how are you dealing with it?
Im currently still letting him live out and he comes in for a few hours in the day, but wondering if he needs more rest as hes not getting any sounder!! Trouble is on the rare times he has had to be eg, box rest he climbs the walls (literally) and does more damage!!

Had the same problem last year. Horse only came sound after it rained.

I too struggled with the in or out decision. In the end I kept her in for about 6 hours during the day on mats and then put her out.

It will rain again one day and we will all be complaining about the mud - promise!!
