tonight when my tb gelding trotted down feild tonight he was slightly lame, about 3/10's lame & when I examined him in stable he had a bony lump not dissimilar to a small splint on inside of fetlock.I have heard about similar symptoms for sesamoidits or suspensory ligament damage.

has anyone experienced anything similar?

Are you talking about on the fetlock bone itself or on the back of the fetlock ie; tendon area?

If your talking about the side of the fetlock/bone area my horse had something similar last year. She was lame, there was some heat and she didn't like you squeezing anywhere around it. The problem first presented itself as swelling all over her fetlock and lameness (so we also suspected ligament damage) but over 2 weeks swelling went and we were just left with a hard lump (about the size of your pinky finger nail). The vet thought she had fractured her splint bone so xrayed it, but luckily turned out she had wacked it on something whilst in the paddock (the fence, gate etc) and the hard lump was fiberous scar tissue. We massaged a cream for bruising into it which dispersed the tissue and lump went :)

If it is sesamoditis squeeze his sesamoides (on the back of the fetlock) - if he reacts that could be the problem. His fetlock joint would also be swollen. Its usually caused by concussion on hard ground - have you been doing lots of this sort of work?

If you are worried or the problem gets worse I'd get the vet.
