hard lump on nose

our 10yr old gsd has a hard lump half way down her nose. It has been there since end Jan, doesn't seem to hurt her when touched and is now the size of a 5p bit.
My hubby wants to get the vet to look at it but she is very nervous of men and vets.
She is the bite now ask questions later type!
When she has her jabs we have to muzzle her with the plastic cage thing the vets give us.
If we do that they wont be able to touch spot!
What worries us is that we just lost our pony with cancer and we are living under regret that we didn't catch it in time.
But if this is cancer I could'nt bear to put her through the ordeal of going into the vets to have op or treatment.

My border collie has a hard lump on her nose thats she had from 4 months old, sounds like its bigger than your guys but she went in to have it checked out and biopsies taken to find it wasnt cancerous. It doesnt cause her any pain what so ever and they only reason they hae reason to remove it now ould be comsetic and i wouldnt do that to her.
Im afraid the only way you will find out if it is cancer or not will be to go to the vets, would it be easier to see a female vet or even get them to come and do a home visit maybe.

We are taking her to the vets tomorrow and they have told us they will muzzle her and inject her with sedative before trying to examine her!
Will let you know what it is!
