Hard Lump

Just come back from the yard and daughters horse has got a hard half egg sized lump on the outside of his cannon bone on his offside foreleg.

No heat, have cold hosed it and applied an icepack.

It looks like a splint, but i always thought that splints only occurred on the inside of the leg?

He was jumped in the 'too deep' sand school on Friday (against my wishes, teenage daughters & all that, which will believe me be addressed and is a different matter), nothing yesterday, but there it is today.

Am going to ring the vets tomorrow, but anyone got an experience of this?

It's more uncommon, but a couple of horses I know did have splints to the offside. I too thought they were onlyon the inside, but apparantly can be either?

Again, not any I've had personally had any...just knew of it vaguely from other ones on livery at the same yard etc. So don't take my word for it!
