Hard or floppy..... which is better???????????????????

As title, do you use floppy wraps, harder mark todd type boots etc.

I have to buy some soon and dont know what to get.

Used to have the Mark Todd ones but they got damaged when lent to someone..... they paid me for them but I didnt replace them... but now I need some.

I would like them to be easier to wash than the MT ones (hence the floppy question) but to be easy to put on and above all safe.

Merlin does not travel too well and managed to half pull off a shoe on wednesday.... so I was favouring the ones with the shell round the hoof, but not sure if the hard ones are making him fidget in the trailer.

Please help me

Or if anyone has some nice cob size ones that need to be rehomed.... let me know how much you want for them

Don't know about boots but a friend whose horse pulls shoes in the lorry vetwraps his feet before travelling & that seems to work really well.

I don't know if they come round to your area but we get a company that does liquidation sales and I bought a set of four for £15 that have been brilliant. They stay where they are put and are a decent size and are still going strong after nearly three years.

Do they not do the softer boots with reinforced heel protection???Pair i borrowed off a friend were great,tuff at the bottom but nice and soft on top!!Sure if you had look round you should be able to find what you looking for!

Other than that the vetwrap thing sounds good but not the cheapest option!

I have soft ones and they fall down over the hock. So I have hock boots as well. I had the hock boots from before the time when travel boots were invented so no extra expense but just worth bearing this in mind!

If you go for softer ones then look for ones with oodles of velcro all the way up!

I use Weatherbeeta boots - they're excellent. They're fleece lined and have a ballistic outer with reinforced bits at the bottom at the heel (and cover it well). Mine keep their shape perfectly when on yet are very flexible.

For long journeys, I use gamgee with fleece bandages.

Mine both prefer the polypad type boots which are so much softer and easier to wash!
