Is there are big difference between them?? I have been looking on an online shop, and the hard rubber is £15 and the vulcanite one is £44!
Why is there such a big price gap? Is it because the hard rubber can be chewed more easily?

Thanks for any info....

Sounds like different manufacturers (vulcanite bits are not often made by Chinese manufacturers, as they stick to synthetics)

However at £15 the hard rubber pelham is cheap, just for the hardware alone it should be more. So my guess either the website selling them imported it themselves or its old stock.

No idea how it affects price but hard rubber is not as hard as vulcanite. Have you tried Ebay? I've just bought a vulcanite pelham for £4 plus £4 p&p!

Oh okay. So do you think the rubber would be a better buy for what its worth? Bearing in mind this would just be for exciting outings etc, so wouldn't get much wear.

Depends. My friend's horse needed a vulcanite pelham and she unknowingly bought a hard rubber one and said the horse went terribly in it.

So if it's vulcanite you need, I'd keep an eye on Ebay for a cheap one rather than get a hard rubber one that may or may not do what you want.

Dont forget that vulcanite is alot heavier and more solid than hard rubber, also less warm. I think you will get the same wear out of either material really, the only hard rubber bit that Ive seen chewed through was an ancient riding school bit!
Of course Im not saying this because Ive got a 5.5 hard rubber pelham....
