Hard to move on

I have no idea who u r talking about, I have found a horse that maybe suitable but not bought it yet, certainly not a serious nappy event horse!
 
Apologies, Benson, I have no wish to upset you. I sincerely hope that you find the perfect horse for you, and I'm very, very glad it's not the horse I thought it was, as it is dangerous.

Having been in an RTA with a horse myself, although luckily we were both not hurt, I can only begin to appreciate how difficult it must be for you. You have had a horrible experience, that must be so hard to move on from, and my heart goes out to you.

My Pearl was pts after a short illness at Easter 2008. Although we had other horses there was nothing for me to ride and I was just getting back into riding after breaking my ankle the year before. I went on the Internet straightaway with a very particular list of requirements, including 'no more heavies' and 'must stand still at the mounting block for dis/mounting'. My current mare was here by Spring Bank. Pearl was special, as they have all been in their own ways, because amongst other things, she was so good as I started riding again. Over the years we have had several horses and we still talk about them all, remembering their quirks, the good times and the bad.
As others have said, you cannot change what happened, so you have to move on. You can only do what is right for you in your own circumstances.
 
No matter how many more horses you buy, your never forget benson, its good to move on but not forget, so sorry for your loss x
 
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. 8 weeks is a very short time. I think that to loose a horse suddenly takes a lot to get over. I lost my once in a lifetime horse, Lancelot on the 19th of October.It was sudden and has devastated me.It is some consolation that he did not suffer,but I do miss him so much.I know I am not ready to have another horse.
 
I lost my horse in October...I have started to look at a few adds, but don't think I am ready to buy yet. I owe it to the next horse to be ready to want to love again.
 
when i lost my first i swore id never have another but i realised how empty my life was with out going up the yard and spending time with my babe. So i had another within 2 weeks then when i lost him i had another almost straight away. But ill never forget either of them they taught me so much and i hope they had a happy life with me we are all different and cope in different ways if your missing spemding time with a horse and think u may have found something suitable then maybe its time but only u will know.

I really feel for you benson21.

I lost my Mazzie in a trailer accident 18 months or so ago, and I actually got Genie the next day. She was supposed to be coming anyway if she passed the vetting and my instructor told (well, ordered) me to go ahead with it. We had trouble bonding at first, but to be honest it really did help. Genie has been there for me when I've had down times, and she kept me busy in the aftermath. I now wouldn't be without her.

Big hugs and while the pain will always be there, I promise it will lessen with time.
 
After 8 weeks you're bound to still be grieving, don't be too hard on yourself. Your horse was a massive part of your life and was clearly loved, it will take time.

You are not replacing your horse so please don't feel like your not honouring him/her. Your horse would want you to be happy so do what you feel is best. Your horse was special in so many ways but the new horse, if you decide to will also be special, just in a different way.

I would feel lost without my boy so cannot imagine the pain that you're experiencing. As JohnRobert said, your horse will never be forgotten.
 
it is hard, and it doesn't get any easier, having lost a number of horses, mainly for injury related reason's but 2, people may remember a few years ago, separatly but both in their own way horrendous, were particularly upsetting, but you carry on, in what every way is easiest for you,

it does get better, and it makes it ever so slightly easier if it ever happens again, i lost 3 in 1 year, that was a bad year,
