Hard to use...or not..?

I am currently looking to buy either a Mar Todd training system or a John Whitaker training aid system.

I was just wondering what they are like to use as in if they are easy to work or not.

And i would also like to know if they are really worth the money, and benefit the horse more than a simple lunge system does?
