Hardly News, but Racing from 13 years ago!

why did this race cause such carnage ? badly prepared horses ? any idea how old they all were ? makes you also wonder what happened to them....

Jockeys are either incredibly brave or plain mad !!
 
AND it was AP who re-mounted! I'm not sure how to answer your question gingerarab, but it was indeed carnage. As I understand things, jockeys are no longer permitted to re-mount.

It must have been a beginners chase. Pretty much first time chasers and it only takes one to make a mistake to scare the others around them into making mistakes.

Alec is right, jockeys can no longer get back on. They stopped that in 2004 I think?

There was an even better race round Exeter or somewhere southern like that where Timmy Murphy's horse really didn't want to race! It was called Alleycat I think. So funny watching that one!
 
That was ridiculous! Just goes to show what we all know though - they're not machines! It does make me very glad jockeys can't remount anymore.
