Harley was such a star, I'm so proud of him! We did a steeplechase and a normal course. Did get eliminated in both, but one was unlucky and the 2nd was me being stupid, but it was our 1st attempt and I was so pleased with how focused he was!!

The steeplchase is just tunnels and jumps and we were eliminated when I sent him over a jump ahead of me and then rather than come back around the wing he came back over the fence! Oops! I need to be clearer. He was super fast though and the judge actually came over and said how well we did and were very unlucky! (when I went in the ring I had said it was our 1st time out, was feeling very clueless!)

We were eliminated in the normal course when again I sent him ahead of me and needed him to turn sharp left over another fence (imagine 3 oclock, 12 oclock, 9 oclock) and he ran past the 2nd and then I STUPIDLY sent him back over the 3 oclock fence then the other 2 which got me eliminated for jumping the same fence twice, whereas if I'd just carried on I would have just got penalty!! Doh!!!

Only photo I have is of him coming off the Dog Walk

Anyway, so pleased with him. Can't wait to find another comp. :)

Well done :D

I frequently get eliminated lol, I've only be trying for 5yrs  :p Hoping to do better with Dora dog :D

Have to say I didn't feel stupid.... Being eliminated didn't seem THAT uncommon.... and clear rounds fairly rare.... Everyone was really friendly and I learnt sooooo much!

Well you were both amazing, the look on your face said it all determination and pride, how long have you been doing it for?

I completed a starters course with Darcy Dobe and it was very clear to me she was brilliant and a natural and I was c**p:o:eek::). Hope to restart in the spring but have to get rid of the fat accummalated by me for over indulging in the choc. dept.:D

We started last spring, with a 6 week break around Oct when he broke his nail... We go fortnightly. Because we do 1 2 1 and not classes I had no idea what he was going to be like with all the distractions, but he didn't care, he just loves it so much it is all he cared about and he tried so hard!

The trainer has been telling me to compete since Sept time, but it's difficult with my schedule where the comps are mainly weekends when I'm flat out.... but my diary happened to be completely empty yesterday, so I went for it! I loved it so much I can see that I'll now be making my diary clear! lol!

I'm with you though.... Harley took to it immediately whereas I'm a total idiot and am forever getting it wrong! If he had a handler that knew what they were doing he'd be great! ;)

We have only done a 6week course so we will not be setting the world alight just yet.:D We havnt done the seesaw or the weave but nothing seems to faze Darcy but she is so quick I cant stay ahead of her. I was hoping someone else would want to compete her but both trainers have Dobes who compete to a high standard so I dont think they would be that interested.:D

I must get my daughters bf to make me a wobble board in helping her get used to the seesaw and I could put up some weave poles myself and practice, does anyone know how wide apart they need to be given she is a large dog.

Weave poles is just over 2ft apart.... it is a standard measurement. :)

The see saw is what we are working on at the moment.... Harley doesn't like that it moves!!! But you can still do Steelechase which is just jumps and tunnels and beginner dogs can be in the nursery class where the jumps are one knotch lower and don't think they do the see saw from what I remember (didn't yesterday)

No way I can keep up with Harley! I get a head start with a sit wait, then have to be able to control him back when he's so far ahead.... lol!

There's always someone who's run was worse than yours, whether that's human or canine error lol.

I love the atmosphere at agility competitions, you can stand in the queue and have a conversation with someone you don't know from Adam like you've known them for years :D

Well done, and lovely to see a breed other than a collie doing agility. I competed for ages before I could get round without being eliminated, never mind a clear round, and mostly it was handler error.:o
