I rode a horse regularly there about 5 years ago, was very busy then. It's not somewhere I would choose to keep my horse. May have changed now though...
My share Horse was there about 8 months ago, but i rode there for other 2 years ( shared another Horse there). It is a nice yard but i dont think I would return there again.
Pros,
Brilliant facilities
Lots of people to go hacking with
own shows
Tea room
Assited Livery
Private tackroom
Use of straw and hay
own XC course
Cons,
Can never get in the school by yourself unless you ride very early ( before 9) or really late ( after 8) unless your willing to ride with 6+ Horses in the same school
Very noisey!, not good if you have a stresey Horse, theres 85+ Horses there
Very bitchy
My things would always disspear
Turnout was nice and the fields kept in brilliant condition, but very limited turnout. so not good if your Horses need alot of turn out. ( main reason why Horses owner left) as YO wouldnt let my share Horse out all winter.
Alot of know it all types there.
I might consider moving back there but only if I had/shared a very laid back Horse. But with current Share Horse being very stressy it wasnt ideal, and shes much more relaxed now were on a smaller yard.
I think the sum up of pros and cons above is about right. I didn't find it bitchy, but I am very thick skinned and blank off bitches as life is too short to give them any of my time.
I left there as Cairo was getting old, his joints were not so good, so exercise on the horsewalker was now out. He needed a yard with more turnout. George did after we left put in two turnout areas.
I liked HPF and if they had more turnout, I would consider this yard again as the facilities are good. As I go up late in the evenings, I often got the school to myself, and there are three to choose from.
Hacking is good, and I do miss the XC course, but as I am 15 minutes ride away, I can hire it out if I wish.
My TB loved HPF, my WB found it too busy and not enough t/o. Cairo was much happier in the very small yard we moved him to and died there of old age.
If you have a horse that can cope on a very busy yard, go on a horsewalker and not get stressed if they don't go out for 8 - 10 weeks, then you will be fine.
